This is the second time that the 2026 Dodge Charger has won the “Best Sport Coupe” accolade, reinforcing its reputation in high-performance engineering, aggressive styling and everyday drivability.

"It’s an incredible honor for our next-gen muscle car to be recognized by MotorWeek with both Best of the Year and Best Coupe awards," said Matt McAlear, CEO at Dodge.

"This recognition validates the Charger’s uncompromising performance, unmistakable design and cutting-edge technology while staying true to the Dodge DNA our enthusiasts expect."

MotorWeek’s latest recognition adds to the Charger’s line impressive list of achievements which includes the 2026 North American Car of the Year and top honors from TopGear.com, Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News.

The 2026 Dodge Charger lineup includes Charger R/T, Charger R/T Plus, Charger Scat Pack and Charger Scat Pack Plus trims.

All Chargers come standard with all-wheel drive and offer two-door coupe or four-door sedan configurations.

Under the Hood

Dodge’s 2026 Charger R/T comes with a twin-turbo 3.0-liter SIXPACK standard-output engine that generates 420 hp and 468 Ib-ft of torque.

This represents the highest entry-level horsepower of any muscle car. The setup delivers an acceleration of 0-60 mph in 5 seconds covering a quarter-mile in 13 seconds.

The standard all-wheel-drive system includes an on-demand rear-wheel-drive mode which allows drivers to send 100% of torque to the rear wheels with the push of a button.

Four selectable drive modes offer drivers adaptability for different road conditions and driving preferences.

Auto optimizes everyday comfort, Sport increases engine performance, Eco maximizes fuel efficiency and Wet/Snow mode enhances stability on slippery surfaces.

For a weekend camping trip, Wet/Snow mode fine-tunes throttle response and traction control on loose gravel, muddy paths and wet roads.

A drive customization in the 2026 Dodge Charger R/T enhances throttle response, steering feel and suspension behavior. Rather than relying on a single preset, drivers can combine these adjustments across systems to create a personalized driving experience.

An available Performance Handling Group package upgrades braking, suspension and overall chassis tuning for additional grip and enhanced stability in challenging terrain.

Comfort and Convenience

The cockpit-interior features of the Charger R/T include a 12.3-inch center screen, wide-format 10.25-inch driver display interface, eight-way driver seating, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, dual-zone automatic climate control and a nine-speaker audio system with a subwoofer.

Higher trims add a 16-inch driver display screen, eight-way driver seating with memory, heating and ventilation settings, wireless charging pad and a 18-speaker premium sound setup.

The Charger R/T’s Proximity Wake-Up with Dodge Welcome Lighting automatically activates exterior and interior lights in low-light conditions.

This feature enhances visibility around the vehicle at night and adds an extra layer of security when entering or exiting after dark.

Dodge’s 2026 Charger also introduces a hidden hatch feature that lifts up the trunk lid with the rear glass like a hatchback for easier access to cargo.

The new design offers 22.8 cubic feet of storage space with rear seats up and 37.4 cubic feet of cargo area with seats folded flat.

This is a 38% increase from the prior generation and more than double the previous rear cargo volume with the seats folded.

"The Charger R/T is a muscle car that can double as an everyday driver with an award-winning interior and best-in-cargo volume. It’s quicker, faster and more capable," said Matt McAlear, CEO at Dodge.

Safety

All 2026 Dodge Charger models are equipped with a robust suite of advanced safety and driver-assistance technologies engineered to prevent collisions and protect occupants in a gamut of driving situations.

Features:

  • Forward Collision with Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go functionality
  • Lane Keeping Assistance
  • Blind-Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Detection
  • Traffic Sign Recognition
  • Drowsy Driver Detection

Optional safety features on higher trims include a 360-degree Surround View Camera that provides a complete bird’s eye view around the vehicle when maneuvering tight spaces.

A Turn-Signal Activated Blind Spot View reveals the Dodge Charger’s blind zone on the touchscreen when the turn signal is engaged.

This feature helps drivers safely change lanes, merge into heavy traffic and navigate congested highways by alerting them to vehicles hidden in their blind spots.

A ParkSense camera activation detects obstacles at low speeds and notifies drivers of potential hazards before contact.

Side Distance Warning keeps track of objects alongside the 2026 Dodge Charger while parking, while the Front Tire-to-Curb Camera displays the position of the front tires to help drivers park accurately without scraping the curb.
