2026 Jeep Compass Blends Everyday Comfort With Trail-Ready Capability

The 2026 Jeep Compass combines standard all-wheel capability, a cutting-edge tech interior and expansive suite of advanced safety features.

Jeep’s compact SUV retains its signature seven-slot grille and rugged exterior styling, complemented by sculpted bodylines and standard LED reflector headlamps.

Available 18- and 19-inch aluminum wheels add to its confident stance, while available fog lamps provide additional illumination in challenging weather and low-light conditions.

The Compass also offers a range of exterior colors. This includes three new choices for 2026 that give drivers more options for a distinctive SUV appearance.

Drivers can choose from Latitude, Latitude Altitude, Limited, Limited Altitude and Trailhawk models.

The entry-level Compass offers heated front seats and heated steering wheel for comfort and convenience as temperatures drop.

Optional leatherette seats with bright-blue stitching add a unique touch with an available wiper de-icer that clears early-season ice and slush in northern U.S. states like Minnesota, Michighan, Wisconsin and parts of New England.

2026 Compass Trailhawk

Drivers looking for off-road capability can select the Trailhawk which is equipped with an enhanced 4x4 system and trail-friendly features.

Off-Road Features:

  • Jeep Active Drive Low 4x4 System: Provides increased low-speed control and a 20:1 crawl ratio that navigates rocky trails, loose gravel, beach fronts and muddy paths.
  • Increased Ground Clearance: Delivers 8.6 inches of ground clearance that protects the undercarriage from rocks, logs and other off-road obstacles.
  • Selec-Terrain Traction Management System: Allows drivers select terrain-specific modes that adjust vehicle performance and optimize traction in diverse road conditions.
  • Hill Descent Control: Automatically manages the SUV’s speed on steep slopes and allows drivers to focus only on steering.
  • All-Terrain Tires: Offers the Trailhawk optimal traction on dirt, gravel, mud and other rugged terrains.

Under the Hood

The 2026 Compass is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 200 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. These figures are the best-in-class standard horsepower and torque ratings in the compact SUV segment.

Engineers have paired the eight-speed automatic transmission with Jeep’s Active 4x4 system for responsive engine performance in different driving scenarios.

The system distributes addtional torque to the wheels for enhanced traction and disconnects the rear axle when four-wheel drive is not required which improves fuel economy during normal driving.

This powertrain also helps the 2026 Compass accelerate smoothly when merging into highway traffic and maintain traction on wet and slippery roads covered with autumn leaves.

Comfort and Convenience

The base 2026 Compass Latitude features include a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, six-way adjustable driver's seat with height adjustment, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital cluster display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and six-speaker sound system.

Higher trims add an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging pad, GPS navigation and a top-of-the-line boom box of nine speakers, an eight-inch subwoofer and 506-watt amplifier.

Jeep’s 2026 Compass has a maximum towing capacity of 2000 pounds, enough for a small utility trailer loaded with camping gear or bicycles for a scenic adventure.

An available dual-pane sunroof extends across the cabin roof and allows natural light into the cabin for a brighter and more spacious atmosphere.

This roomy interior is especially appealing on long-distance road trips and gives passengers an expansive view of the surrounding scenery along the way.

A foot-activated power liftgate offers hands-free access to a 27.2 cubic feet cargo area that increases to 59.8 cubic feet with the second row folded.

This extra space can accommodate a four-person tent, sleeping bags, camping chairs, a large cooler, backpacks and storage bins filled with supplies for a hiking trip in October.

Safety

All 2026 Compass models are equipped with a range of active safety and driver-assistance technologies for autumn drivers.

Features:

  • Advanced Brake Assist
  • Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist
  • Blind-Spot Monitoring
  • Rear Cross-Path Detection
  • Active Lane Management
  • Drowsy Driver Detection
  • Pedestrian/Cyclist Detection with Emergency Braking

Adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go is standard on Limited Altitude and Trailhawk models and available on the Latitude Altitude through an available driver-assistance package.

Both Active Driving Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition are also available on Latitude Altitude, Limited, Limited Altitude and Trailhawk SUVs.

Active Driving Assist combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering technology to maintain a preset speed and keep the Compass within its lane during highway driving.

Traffic Sign Recognition uses the vehicle's forward-facing camera to identify road signs and displays recognized speed-limit information on the Jeep Compass instrument cluster.

This tech feature helps drivers stay aware of changing speed limits, particularly when traveling through unfamiliar areas or roads where restrictions change frequently.

The 2026 Compass SUV’s high-strength steel body provides a protective space for all passengers and prevents the cabin from collapsing during a collision.

Seven advanced airbags also deliver all-round protection for occupants and work in sync with other restraint systems to minimize injuries in the event of a crash.
